Sample Problem: Cylindrical Halfraum at NIF

Overview

This shows a very simple example of calculating temperatures in a NIF halfraum being heated by the beams from 2 NIF Quads.

For the halfraum dimension, we choose a cylinder of length 1200 μm and radius of 800 μm. The LEH has a radius of 600 μm. The drive beams are the 8 beams from quads Q46B and Q46T. (The parameters selected are for the sake of illustration only).
